English Speaking Acupuncture Clinic

The simplest way from Narita Airport to Fuji Wellness in east Tokyo is the JR Sobu Line Rapid train, which runs straight from the airport to Shin-Koiwa (about 75 minutes) and Kinshicho (about 80 minutes) with no change. From there it is a short taxi ride or a 15-minute bus to our clinic in Matsushima, Edogawa City. This guide compares every Narita Airport to Edogawa option, from the Keisei Access Express to the airport bus and fixed-fare taxis, and explains how to plan a session around your flight.

Why we wrote this guide

Long-haul travellers, for example from Canada, often message us before they fly: a 13-hour flight is hard on their neck and shoulders, and they want to book a session for their first days in Tokyo. Getting here from Narita is easier than many expect, because east Tokyo is on the airport side of the city. You do not need to go into central Tokyo and come back out.

The routes in detail

Option 1: JR Sobu Line Rapid, direct to Shin-Koiwa and Kinshicho

This is the train most of our visitors from Narita use. The JR station is underneath the terminals: Narita Airport Terminal 1 (成田空港) and Narita Airport Terminal 2·3 (空港第2ビル). Look for Rapid (快速) trains on the JR East timetable heading for Tokyo, Ofuna, Zushi or Kurihama. They run roughly once an hour from about 7:00 until late evening, and every one of them stops at Shin-Koiwa and Kinshicho.

  • Time: on a typical October 2026 weekday train, Terminal 1 to Shin-Koiwa takes 76 minutes and to Kinshicho 82 minutes.
  • Fare: about ¥1,230 to Shin-Koiwa and ¥1,410 to Kinshicho, with a Suica or PASMO card or a paper ticket. No reservation is needed.
  • Comfort: you get on at the first station, so you will usually find a seat. Rapid trains also have Green Cars (first-class, extra charge), which many tired travellers find worth it for a long ride.

Which station to get off at? If you are coming straight to the clinic, Shin-Koiwa is closer: take the 新小21 or 新小22 bus from the South Exit to Keiyo-kosaten (about 10 minutes, then a 5-minute walk), walk about 20 minutes, or take a short taxi. If your hotel is in Kinshicho, stay on for six more minutes, then take Toei Bus 錦25 or 錦27 from the South Exit to Komatsugawa-keisatsusho-mae (about 15 minutes). Our access guide covers each step, including the bus stops.

Option 2: Keisei Access Express via Oshiage

Keisei’s Access Express (アクセス特急) runs from Narita on the Narita Sky Access line and continues through onto the Toei Asakusa Line. Ride to Oshiage (Tokyo Skytree), then change to the Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Line for one stop to Kinshicho. The whole trip takes roughly 70–75 minutes and costs about ¥1,380. Daytime trains have taken about 65 minutes to Oshiage since Keisei’s December 2025 timetable change. See Keisei’s fares page.

It suits hotels near Oshiage, Asakusa or Skytree. For Kinshicho or the clinic, JR is similar in time and price without the change.

Option 3: Narita Express (N’EX), only if you already have it

The Narita Express is fast and comfortable, but it runs non-stop from the airport to Tokyo Station (about 57 minutes) and passes through Kinshicho without stopping. To reach east Tokyo you would change at Tokyo and take the Sobu Rapid back east for 8 minutes. The reserved-seat fare to Tokyo is about ¥3,140 (Ekitan N’EX guide), so it only makes sense if you hold a JR Pass or a discounted N’EX ticket.

Option 4: Airport Limousine bus to Kinshicho

Airport Limousine buses run from all Narita terminals to the Tobu Hotel Levant Tokyo, a 3-minute walk from Kinshicho’s North Exit. According to the hotel’s access page, the trip takes about 120 minutes and costs ¥3,100 for adults (¥1,550 for children). Buses leave Narita a few times a day, roughly between 10:30 and 20:00. Buy tickets at the bus counter in arrivals, or check Airport Limousine for times and online booking.

It is slower and traffic can delay it, but your suitcase goes under the bus and you sit the whole way. From the Levant, take a taxi to the clinic or walk to the South Exit buses.

Option 5: Fixed-fare taxi to Edogawa City

Narita has a zone-based fixed-fare taxi system. According to Narita Airport’s taxi page, Edogawa City is in Zone A, at ¥23,500 via the Keiyo Road or ¥26,500 via the Bayshore route. Expressway tolls are extra, and a late-night surcharge applies between 22:00 and 5:00. Sumida City (Kinshicho) is in Zone B, at ¥28,000. You do not need to book. Go to the taxi stand and ask the driver for the fixed fare before you set off.

Expensive for one, but often worth it for a family with big suitcases or after a delayed late flight.

Luggage: travel light on arrival day

Hauling suitcases up station stairs is the last thing a stiff neck and back need.

  • Send it ahead. Yamato, JAL ABC and Sagawa all have delivery counters in Narita arrivals (Narita baggage delivery). Standard delivery to your hotel arrives the next day. Same-day hotel delivery exists, but only to certain Tokyo wards and only if you drop off by late morning or early afternoon, so check whether your hotel’s area is covered.
  • Coin lockers are available at Kinshicho Station, but suitcase-size lockers fill up quickly. Do not count on finding one.
  • Use lifts. At Shin-Koiwa and Kinshicho, follow the elevator signs rather than the stairs.

Planning a session: arrival day or the next morning?

Our hours are Monday–Thursday 9:00–12:00 and 14:00–17:00, and Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 8:00–12:00. We are closed on Fridays and work by appointment only.

Allow about 45–90 minutes from landing to the train platform for immigration, baggage and customs, then about 1.5 to 2 hours to reach us by train and bus. So:

  • Landing in the early morning: a same-day session can work if you land early enough on a weekday or weekend. Message us your flight number and we will suggest a realistic time.
  • Landing around midday or in the afternoon: you will usually arrive after our last appointment. Rest, and book for the next morning.
  • The next morning is often the best choice. Jet-lagged travellers from North America tend to wake very early, and our 8:00 weekend start suits that well. If you land on a Thursday, remember we are closed on Friday.

Book through our contact page or WhatsApp. Our booking guide for short trips explains what to tell us.

Arrival-day recovery, and when to see a doctor instead

Mild, even swelling of both ankles after a flight is common. The CDC warns that pain, swelling or warmth in one leg can signal a blood clot (DVT). This needs a doctor the same day, not acupuncture or massage. Call 119 for chest pain, sudden shortness of breath, coughing blood or fainting.

For travellers who are otherwise well, NCCIH notes that acupuncture may help some people with neck or back pain, although results vary and evidence is limited for many conditions. We do not promise any particular result.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest way from Narita Airport to Kinshicho?

The JR Sobu Line Rapid train runs direct from Narita Airport to Kinshicho for about ¥1,410 in about 80 minutes, with no change. The Keisei Access Express via Oshiage, then the Hanzomon Line, costs about ¥1,380 but needs one change. Both are far cheaper than the airport bus or a taxi.

Does the Narita Express stop at Kinshicho or Shin-Koiwa?

No. The Narita Express runs non-stop from the airport to Tokyo Station and passes through Kinshicho without stopping. For Kinshicho or Shin-Koiwa, the ordinary JR Sobu Line Rapid train is direct and much cheaper.

How much is a taxi from Narita Airport to Edogawa City?

Narita’s fixed-fare taxis charge ¥23,500 to Edogawa City (Zone A) via the Keiyo Road, or ¥26,500 via the Bayshore route. Expressway tolls are extra, and a late-night surcharge applies from 22:00 to 5:00. Ask the driver for the fixed fare at the taxi stand before you leave.

Can I go to Fuji Wellness straight from Narita on the day I land?

Sometimes. Allow about 3 hours from landing to the clinic. Our last weekday appointments finish at 17:00 and weekend hours end at 12:00, so same-day visits usually only work with an early-morning landing. Many travellers book the next morning instead. Message us your flight details and we will suggest a time.

Is there an airport bus from Narita to Kinshicho?

Yes. Airport Limousine buses run from Narita to the Tobu Hotel Levant Tokyo near Kinshicho Station. They take about 120 minutes and cost ¥3,100 for adults, with a few departures a day. Check the current timetable before you fly.
